New strategic direction for BU Additive Manufacturing

We continuously look for ways to strengthen the operational efficiency of Sandvik and steer our resources towards profitable growth opportunities.

As previously announced, following a strategic review of Additive Manufacturing made in 2023 our focus is on growing metal powder sales and further expanding our leading position in this area. Given this clear focus we are now adjusting the organizational setup and one consequence is that we will discontinue the Production Unit Additive Manufacturing Services, ceasing component manufacturing within the business unit. Additive manufacturing remains an important growth area for us, and we are committed to maintaining our presence in it as a metal powder supplier.

During the fall 2023, additive manufacturing became part of the Powder Solutions division within business area segment Sandvik Machining Solutions, and this new division (also encompassing Wolfram and Buffalo Tungsten) will focus on unlocking new business opportunities, by combining the strong powder capabilities within the division.
